Abstract: This report is the result of field research carried out in seven concessions of five European forestry companies operating in Gabon, the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It presents an overview of the major issues relating to consent and the role of local populations in forest management. This is followed by a set of recommendations for the implementation of FPIC in forestry concessions in the Congo Basin.
