Towards the municipal decentralization of forest management in the Chaco and Yungas Eco-Regions of Bolivia.

Bolivia

This pre-project is aimed at generating the information required for forest management by the municipalities, thus contributing to the implementation of the National Forest Regime. It will consolidate the incorporation of the forest sector into a participatory municipal management model, which will ensure the consideration of forest users requirements in the participatory planning process and their fulfillment by the municipalities through the implementation of actions to channel counterpart financial resources for the implementation of programs and projects as required. Another essential element for self-management and municipal forest management sustainability is the availability of trained personnel. The expected output is the formulation of full project proposal to commit the municipalities to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of forest resources under their jurisdiction, thus contributing to the development of the local forest sector and the reduction of informal forest activities in the Chaco and Yungas Eco-Regions of Bolivia.
