Development and Implementation of Stress Grading Rules for Tropical Timber

Philippines

This two-and-a-half-year project aims to develop and implement stress grading rules and standards for tropical timber used in construction in the Philippines. After identifying an appropriate stress grading system, interaction with regulatory bodies, as well as producer and consumer groups, shall be conducted to come up with attainable codes and standards. A training program to promote the production of quality-assured lumber shall be established. Marketing and economic studies shall focus on strategies and programs to promote quality assured stress-graded lumber in construction.
