Forest, Science and Sustainability: The Bulungan

The project aimed to carry out systematic investigations of how
to achieve long-term sustainable forest management integrating social, ecological
and silvicultural aspects. Specific objectives were:
the assessment of the effect of reduced-impact logging on biodiversity,
conservation, ecology and socio-economics; and
the assessment of rural development trends and future policy options including
the effects of macro-level development activities on people dependent on the
forest.
